A conjecture is essentially a hunch or educated guess based on patterns, examples, intuition, experience, or anything else. A theorem is a conjecture that is true. However, not all conjectures are true! An if-then conjecture is sometimes disproved by finding a counterexample—an example that violates the if-then statement.
