Solving polynomial inequalities is much like solving quadratic inequalities, there's just more stuff to keep track of. Once you've factored the polynomial P(x), you can tell when P(x) is positive by remembering that a product of numbers is positive if an even number of the factors are negative, while the product is negative if an odd number of them are negative.
