Transformations (such as translation or stretching) affect functions, derivatives, and tangent lines in predictable ways. For example, a vertical translation has no effect on the derivative, but translates the tangent line the same amount as the function. On the other hand, a vertical stretch stretches the tangent line in the same way -- this is basically the Constant Multiple Rule.
